KaptagatKaptagat is a village near 40 kilometres east of Eldoret along the B54 Road in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. It is located near the edge of the Great Rift Valley just to the southeast of the village of Chepkorio. Administratively, it is a location in Ainabkoi division of Uasin Gishu District. Historically, Kaptagat was a base of colonial landowners. Kaptagat Hotel and Kaptagat Preparatory school still bear the historical mark of the colonial era. Kaptagat has a small hospital. It is also the site of the Great Rift Valley Sports Camp, training site of many Kenyan runners including Elijah Lagat, Moses Tanui and Brimin Kipruto. Kaptagat is also home to Chepkero Athletics Club, a club that caters for student athletes. The village is surrounded by pine forests and commercial forestry is practiced here. Other agricultural activities are in dairy farming and maize production.
